Shindledecker's Biology Homework Update Center 2011-12

Welcome!  This is the place to find out what we've done in class; what we are doing; and what we will be doing.  You will find assignments posted here as well as notifications of upcoming tests and useful hints and links to help your students learn.

End of September

We took a quiz over Ch 2.1/2.1 vocab and began Ch. 2.3/2.4.  We'll test Tuesday.  Students worked on a Chart of Macromolecules, which included the 4 molecules, carbs, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids.  Then, what are the subunits?, the functions and examples, and what foods would you find them in.

Equinox.....

Thursday and Friday, we reviewed the Ch. 2.1/2.2 concepts.  These are somewhat a review of 9th grade chemistry topics, with additional info needed for biology and future chem classes.  Students will turn in the vocab at the begining of the period on Monday and will be tested on the terms/concepts.  We will then move into the second half of Chapter 2 and the biochemistry part.  We will also begin labs, using the microscope as a measuring tool and then to examine cells.

First two weeks of biology.....

We've been going over the rules and regs and safety.  We've begun examining the origin of our questions, with which we conduct experiments and gather data and draw conclusions.

The first assignment, A1, was to have the course outline signed; A2 was the Chapter 2.1/2.2 Vocab.  Students should finish the front side of this page by Tues. morn.  

We will continue looking at scientific procedure and finish Ch. 2 Voc this week.  We will work with microscopes next week.
